Dan Bacon

Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane and his children Mark (friend Kerrie Kimball), Stephanie Eklund (Bob) and Jennifer Deutsch (Paul).  His daughter, Pamela Sue Bacon preceded Dan in death in 1970.  He is further survived by his grandchildren, Trevor, Riley, Marin and Caiden and brother Charlie and sister Phyllis (Heft) and many nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his mother Ruby (McLaren) and father Dan, brother Bob and sister Anne.

Dan was born and lived in Fremont, Michigan for many years. He and Jane moved to the PebbleCreek community in Goodyear, AZ in 1997.   He worked for 12 years at the Falcon Golf Club, where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends.  He also enjoyed keeping stats for the PebbleCreek softball association.  In addition, he enjoyed going to the Fitness Center, traveling and visiting with his grandchildren.  Dan was an avid University of Michigan sports fan.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and attended Technical School at Lowry Field in Denver, CO.  After graduating from Tech school, he was assigned to Ruislip AFB, England for 3 years.  While in England, he played football, basketball and softball.  In 1953, he was selected to the All United Kingdom Football Team.  He received an honorable discharge as Staff Sargent while stationed at Williams AFB in Chandler, AZ.  He also officiated high school football games for 20 years.

After the military, Dan worked for the Michigan State Highway Department for a year before starting his career with Gerber Products Company.  He worked for Gerber for 40 years in the Office Services areas, retiring in 1987, and then was employed at Frens Nursery in Fremont, MI, for 10 years.

Dan was a member of the Fremont School Board for 8 years and a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Avondale, AZ.

A service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
