Cynthia Eloise Herron was born on December 22, 1966, to Beatrice Herron and Frederick McGee in Vaiden, MS. At the age of two, Cynthia migrated with her mother and younger brother to Detroit, MI in hopes of a better life. Cynthia spent her childhood years growing up on Detroit’s eastside. She attended Detroit Public schools and earned her high school diploma in the year of 1985. Shortly after high school, Cynthia began taking courses in early childhood development at Wayne County Community College District. During her early 20’s she began working part-time in early childhood centers as a teacher. Meanwhile, she actively pursued a career in hospitality employed as a server working for Westin Hotels. Cynthia served at hundreds of venues hosting celebrities and dignitaries; always noted and recognized for her beautiful personality and impeccable service. In the early 2000’s Cynthia relocated to Phoenix, AZ.
During her early adult years, Cynthia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Cynthia attended worship service at First Institutional Baptist Church located in Phoenix, AZ. Cynthia enjoyed being out among the community; attending church gatherings, festivals, coffee shops and more. Cynthia tirelessly embraced family, friends, and strangers with kindness and gracefulness. On August 27, 2019, Cynthia departed this natural life and transitioned to be with the Lord.
Cynthia leaves behind one daughter, Santana DeJesus of Washington D.C., her mother, Beatrice Herron of Phoenix, AZ.; father, Frederick McGee of Vaiden, MS; and stepfather, Adolph Shaw Sr. of Detroit, MI.; four sisters, Sonya Stevenson of Durham, NC., Christy Herron of Goodyear, AZ., Sunday Herron of Durham, NC, and Edin Lawson of Orlando, FL.; two brothers, Adolph Shaw Sr., who preceded her in death, and Walter Herron of Phoenix AZ.; brother-in-law, Lamont Lawson, and sister-in-law, Tisha Mullins; nephews, Antoine Stevenson, Ray Steven Herron and Caleb Lawson; nieces, Cleopatra Herron (who tirelessly aided in Cynthia’s care in the last several months of her of life); Alicia Herron and Anngelyque Stevenson; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Burial will be at 2:00 pm, at the Double Butte Cemetery, 2505 W. Broadway Road, Tempe, AZ 85282.
