Consuelo Acosta Garcia, 95 of Avondale, AZ died December 12, 2013 in Surprise, AZ. Mrs. Garcia was born July 10, 1918 in Berino, New Mexico to Jose and Toribia Acosta. As a member of St. John Vianney Parish and along with other ladies, wove the tapestry of the Virgin de Guadalupe that is in the church. She was also a frequent visitor at the Avondale Senior Center. She enjoyed to crochet blankets and give them to her grandkids and made a lot of her own dresses. She also took a lot of pride in her flower garden in her yard which along with her son Pete, grew hot chile peppers and sold them at various locations around the valley. She is survived by her sons Ruben (Helen) Garcia, Magdaleno ‘Monty’ Garcia; daughter-in-law, Esther Garcia; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Esteban Garcia; son Pedro Garcia; daughter-in-law Beatrice Garcia; parents Jose and Toribia Acosta; brothers Atenojenes Acosta, Alfredo Acosta, Jose Acosta Jr.; sisters Hilaria Guzman and Esperanza Arenas.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Rosary at 10:00 am, and Mass at 10:30 am, on Thursday, December 19th at St. John Vianney Parish, 539 La Pasada Blvd in Goodyear, AZ.
