Christian is survived by his father DeForrest A. Williams and his mother Bobbie D. Williams (née Mayo); his brother Andre Williams; his grandmother Sharon Mayo and his grandfather DeDay Williams.
Christian was preceded in death by his grandfather Johnny Doyle Mayo, his grandmother Carol Ann Davis, his grandmother Hattie Louise Williams, his uncle Douglas Wayne Johnson, and his aunt Shannon Sims.
Christian as a baby, was cute but especially known for his big eyes. As a toddler, he loved to run, jump and play like any other child. His biggest change was learning to love and co-exist with his newborn baby brother, Andre.
During his early school age years, Christian was found to have some developmental deficiencies and also was diagnosed with Type 1 juvenile diabetes. Both of these would play a role in the rest of his life for schooling. However, Christian did well at home and church, made many friends, participated in AWANA, Christmas plays and vacation bible schools throughout his childhood. It was at this time that Chris professed his belief in Jesus as his Savior and was baptized. Also, a family trip to Flagstaff was particularly memorable for us.
Around the middle of his childhood, his hobbies became apparent. He loved playing sports for hours at a time with his friends. His favorite professional teams were the Dallas Mavericks for basketball and the Dallas Cowboys for football. He also enjoyed video games such as Minecraft, NBA 2K, Madden and Fortnite to name a few.
During Christian's late childhood, his struggles with mental health increased and lead us to seek help for him. Hospital visits, counseling, and new medications all while managing medical concerns, were part of this leg of the journey. Many different people rallied around Christian. They remarked that he was polite and gave great hugs. Despite the struggles, Christian often times was very helpful, especially with cleaning. He was the best bathroom cleaner in our household. The most memorable family trips during this period was a beach trip to San Clemente, CA and our family retreats from Joni & Friends in Central California.
Finally, Christian's teenage years were marked by extended stays at mental health facilities and time in juvenile hall. He was seldom in our custody during this time. However, he regularly called us to let us know how he was and that he loved us. Staff members would comment that he had a big heart and did care for the ones he loved.
It hurt to see him struggle, but he struggles no more. Pain, disease, confusion are no longer a reality for him because of a decision to trust Jesus early in life. Christian was not perfect and neither are any of us. I want you all to think about this, if Jesus Christ can save Christian, and me, as flawed as we are, then he can save you as well.
The book of John in the Bible, Jesus says this of Himself:
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
-John 11:25 NLT
On behalf of Bobbie, Andre and myself, I want to thank every last one of you all for the thoughts, prayers and support you have given us. We are truly overwhelmed with your time, efforts and financial help. Your generosity held us up when we were at our weakest. I thank God for you and wish every good thing for you. I wish you all blessings, thank you!
