Jean Bailey, born August 30th, 1924 passed away September 7th soon after her 99th Birthday. Jean was a trailblazer in the West Valley. Moving to the Goodyear area in her early 20’s Jean was the first woman hired to work for the City (then town) of Goodyear. She later became Goodyear City Clerk, retired and came back as the City’s first Court Clerk. After a second retirement she moved to Litchfield Park and became the City of Litchfield’s first Court Clerk, working for the Honorable Judge John Barkley. Jean loved meeting the public, keeping fit, her family and dogs.
Jean was the longest sustaining member of the Acacia Chapter No.46 Order of the Eastern Star. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill Bailey and is survived by her daughters Debbie Nordenberg and Cindi Cobb, son-in laws Steve Cleveland and Charlie Cobb, Granddaughter Landis Elliott and her husband Kevin Elliott and Great grandchildren Bailey, Braxton and Bennett Elliott. She will be greatly missed.
