Milagros Agbulos, age 88 of Avondale, AZ died January 13, 2020, in Phoenix, AZ. She was born May 28, 1931, in Manila, Philippines to Erasmo Maño and Juana Legaspi. As a young woman, Milagros led an adventurous life as a spy against the Japanese who had invaded the Philippines. She met her husband, a Lieutenant in the US Navy at a party during the war and he refused to leave her. They lived in Manila after the war.
Milagros came to the United States in 1985 and became a US Citizen in 1991. She lived in Jersey City, NJ until the death of her husband in 2008, then moved to Arizona to be with her daughter. Independent and strong-willed, Milagros took over the household. She was an excellent homemaker and cook and loved to be around her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very religious and always attended church at St. Thomas Aquinas every Sunday.
Milagros is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Chesler; sons, Manuel, Rolando, Wilbert, and Enrico Agbulos; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, January 16, 2020, at St. Thomas Aquinas, 13720 W. Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392.
