Robert Laverne Tripp

As a student at Holmes Bible School, he sang at local churches and eventually joined such groups as The Rangers Quartet, Sierras, Jubilee Quartet, and Palmetto State Quartet.

In 1968, he joined the Blue Ridge Quartet as their lead singer. Through his songwriting and singing, the Blue Ridge soared to the top. For six consecutive years, the Blue Ridge Quartet sold out venues all over America, thanks to the recordings of Laverne's three #1 hits, including "I KNOW," which was also a #1 hit for The Oak Ridge Boys.

La Verne was voted:

- Male Vocalist of the Year

- Songwriter of the Year

- And nominated for a Dove Award eight times

He thought he had everything he could've asked for...

BUT GOD HAD OTHER PLANS.

Accompanied by his wife, Edith, and their sons, Robb and Terry, LaVerne departed from the Blue Ridge Quartet in 1974 to pursue a calling in evangelism through music and preaching. In 1979, they moved from Spartanburg, SC, to Orange County, CA, and became part of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

For over 26 years, the LaVerne Tripp family reached millions weekly through their musical TV program. Additionally, they toured over 100,000 miles a year, conducting services in more than 200 churches (annually). LaVerne's song, We've Got The Power, became an anthem in churches worldwide during those years. More than two million people accepted the gift of salvation through La Verne's ministry.

In 1994, the family moved from Riverside, CA to Hendersonville, TN, and expanded their outreach by opening a recording studio. They helped hundreds of other singers and songwriters fulfill their calling to share the gospel.

With the passing of his oldest son, Robb (December 8th, 2021), and his wife, Edith (February 17th, 2022), LaVerne began to battle some health issues while remaining dedicated to helping individuals struggling with drug addictions find the freedom he experienced 30 years ago.

In his final years, La Verne occasionally joined his son, Terry, in live meetings, TV, and social media. His work in India, which began with ten children in 1986, continues to grow due to Terry and Kim Tripp's dedication to the legacy.

Thanks to loyal friends and churches, the work in India has expanded from feeding, clothing, and housing ten children to more than 20,000 children since its humble beginning. In addition, four churches, a public school, and a Bible College have been built. Government officials who were raised in their children's homes are now influencing the laws that allow the Gospel of Christ to be preached freely in India.

LaVerne is survived by his son, Terry Tripp (Kim), siblings, Naomi Crompton and Margie Filyaw, (six) grandchildren and (five) great grandchildren.
