Birthday. Her daughter was at her side.
Mary, affectionately known as (Mooey) was born in Bloomington Springs, TN. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dishman, Hendersonville, TN., Brother, Ben Skimmiehorn, Bloomington Springs, TN, and Brother-in-law Letcher Dishman (Brenda)and many nieces and nephews.
On January 11, 1948, she was buried with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in baptism at the Baxter Church of Christ.
Mary married Roy Estes Dishman on September 20, 1950. In 1954 they welcomed their daughter, Pamela Regina Dishman. It was devastating for Mary and Pam when Roy passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 1996.
Mary’s career included working for Washington Manufacturing and Opryland Hotel. She was the first female promoted to supervise the Cutting Room Department at Washington Manufacturing. When Washington Manufacturing closed, Mary applied for a position at Opryland Hotel. Within months she was promoted into a supervisory position.
For many years, Mary was an avid gardener. She grew tomatoes, okra, squash and flowers. Many weekends involved canning and freezing for the winter.
Mary had a tender heart for others. She was creative behind the scenes when helping others yet remained anonymous and never revealed her identity.
After retiring, Mary was introduced to a new world. Having no exposure to Disney World, she was fascinated by the sight of this magical place. Watching her turn into a child, as she rode the “Dumbo” ride with her Great Goddaughter was so touching and a memory that her daughter will never forget.
Mary was blessed with kind and supportive people in her life. The family would like to acknowledge the following individuals.
