He was born on November 21st, 1939 to the late Vestal Robbins and Notie (Scarborough) Robbins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Robbins, Allene (Robbins) Stover, A.V. Robbins and Betty Ruth (Robbins) Stover.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Helen (Kerr) Robbins; Daughters, Missy (Rod) Bandy, Angie (Terry) Burkeen, Heather (Carey) Hill; Grandchildren, Zak Bandy, Niki (Andrew) Denny, Nissa Burkeen, Zeke (Emily) Bandy, Cooper Hill, Hannah Jo Hill; one Great Grand-Child, Arwen Denney; one surviving sister; Joyce (Phil) Anderson. He is also survived by numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-law's, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Joseph retired after a 35 year career at Robert Orr/Sysco. He was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Putnam County, Tn. Joe was a devoted servant of his hometown of Goodlettsville, Tn. He was a faithful leader of Goodlettsville First Baptist Church where he was a member for 55 years, served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Ministry, Church Bus Driver, and ready to help anytime he was called upon. He was longstanding member of the Goodlettsville Lions Club and held several offices including; Treasurer, Secretary and President. Joe spent many wonderful years coaching several Dixie Softball Teams where he proudly took the 1988 Goodlettsville girls 13-14 year old Dixie Belles to the World Series. He was a Vol For Life and loved watching his beloved University of Tennessee teams play.
Joe's greatest accomplishments and the one thing that made him the happiest was spending time with his family and watching the Legacy flourish, built by him and his wife, Helen. He now is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 9:00 - 10:00 am. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 10:00 am and Interment at 11:00 am in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will include: Rod Bandy, Terry Burkeen, Jr., Carey Hill, Zak Bandy, Zeke Bandy, Cooper Hill, Andrew Denney and Marty Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Goodlettsville or the Charity of your choice in memory of Joseph.
