Bill Freeman was a remarkable man and was very influential in my life in Scouting and beyond.   From the innumerable weekly meeting and camping trips to high adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch and the National Scouting Jamboree, I was able to see his teachings by example. He lived a life of service. He lived a life of building others up to become more than they were. His "we're going to Boxwell, we have a service opportunity" taught us we could do fun things while helping and serving a greater cause.  He helped all my brothers grow.   He even welcomed my sisters and parents on various activities--thus impacting my entire family.   He also had and encouraged a love for our great country. I am so grateful for his life well lived.  Many thanks, you will be missed, but your memory will live on forever!

Mr. Freeman  was a great person in my life while growing up, he was my Scout Master , Neighbor and Friend, he was someone I could always talk too, he would take us camping and he would always tell us stories around the campfire, he would always be willing to help us and teach us life skills that we use every day, he will be deeply missed.. 


Mr Freeman taught me a lot as a teen growing up in the scouting world and in and out if scouts as well he was a great man and his boys as well David and Billy Freeman  remember them all very well like it was yesterday this comes as a great and  total shock to me to see him go as we lost contact over the years as I moved to Florida  for a period if time but moved back to Tennessee in November if 2019 and been living in the Chattanooga Tennessee area since my return to Tennessee in 2019 my family wishes  the Freeman family well on their great loss if a wonderful man 

I’m writing to express my gratitude for the service of Bill Freeman to Troop 200. He was my Scout Master as a teenager. Under his leadership I achieved the Eagle Scout rank (as did 3 of my siblings) and we participated in innumerable scouting experiences that helped form me into the man I am today. He lived the principles of scouting and taught me to appreciate nature, service to others, and citizenship in my community. At the conclusion of any camping trip, as we cleaned our camp site, he always told us to “leave the site better than when you arrived”. It took me years to understand what that meant and I still see it in my everyday work as a reconstructive surgeon. Hats off to Bill Freeman. His example will be remembered. 

Bill Freeman was a great man.   I remember him when I was a boy as we lived down the street.  Praying for the family.  Sincerely Donnie Scoggins
