A native of Alabama and longtime resident of Prairieville, she passed away at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice on Oct. 19, 2011. She was 76. She is survived by three sons, Mike Carson and wife Vicki, Billy Hamilton and wife Debbie, and Dale Perkins and wife Darci; sister, Dora Leray; brother, Alton Simmons and wife Janice; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Hamilton, Torin and Tristan Perkins, Kristi and Alaina Carson, and Sarah and Amanda Biggs; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Julien. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Pope Simmons; daughter, Carolyn Carson; four sisters, Margie and Nell Simmons, Velma Lyles, and Mellie Doster; and three brothers, A.G., Buck, and Rayburn Simmons. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Fri., Oct. 21, 2011 from 9am until religious service at 11am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.
