A loving father, grandfather and resident of Prairieville, he passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014. He was 92 and a native of Head of Island. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet as a tail gunner from 1942 to 1945. He had retired as a Terminal Trainmaster with Kansas City Southern, but also worked as an Engine Forman during his career. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially, fox hunting. He loved dancing and spending time with family. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Wax and husband, Ted; son, Lucien "Dude" Brown and wife Susan; loving friend, Ms. Jeanne Dunn; grandchildren, Nathan Brown and wife, Tanya, Theresa Templet and husband, Lawry, Joie Johnson and husband, Kirk, Dusty Crain, Sami Besson and husband, Blain, Kristina Guillory and husband, Toby, and Angel Boone; great grandchildren, Dustin LeBlanc, Tylor Gonzales, Kelbie Brown, Andie Brown, Brant Templet, Victoria Templet, Justin Braud, Annie Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Taylor Besson, Sadie Brown, Josie Brown, Cole Besson, Austin Mire, Kyndal Guillory, Tyler Guillory, Gary Mascarella, Matthew Crain, Charles Boone, and Jasmine Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Troovey Acy Brown; son, Gary Crain; parents, Lucien and Orestine Brown; sisters, Ozeal Chetcuti and Irene Brown; brothers, Alfred, Rudolph, and Melligan Brown; nieces and nephews, Carolyn McLean, Melligan "Buster" Brown, Shirley Dominguez, Marguarite Babin, Nedra Brown, and Lorraine Brown. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Visiting will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Nathan Brown, Kirk Johnson, Blain Besson, Lawry Templet, Toby Guillory and David Babin.
