Mary Joan Mire

Mary Joan Mire, 72, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Mary was born on January 4, 1944 in Baton Rouge and was a resident of Prairieville. Her primary focus was on her family’s happiness especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, James Mire; son, Yancey Mire and wife Sandra; daughter, Jamie Martinez and husband John; sister, Marlene Phillips and husband Danny; brothers, Danny Kelley and wife Madeline, Ray Kelley and wife Dianne; grandchildren, Adam Moran and wife Svitlana, Jessica Moran, Jonah Mire, Benjamin Mire, Sara Moran; great granddaughter, Veronika Moran and father-in-law, Pershing Mire. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Francis Kelley and mother-in-law, Lee Ella Mire. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville from 9:30AM until a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM with celebrant Fr. Jerry Martin. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Mrs. Mire’s name.
