Kelsi Brooke Johnson, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Sorrento, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet Burn Unit at the age of 21. She was a cashier in the retail industry. The visitation will be observed at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. and will resume on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Ourso Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until religious services at 11:00 AM celebrated by Rev. John Carrigan. The burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Prairieville. Kelsi is survived by her parents, Benjamin and Marla Johnson of Prairieville; mother, JoAnn Melancon Sorrento; fiancé: Jason Bayard of Sorrento; 1 son: Jackson Felix Bayard of Sorrento; 2 sisters: Nicole Cockerham and Frank of Baton Rouge, and Benay Johnson of Prairieville; maternal grandparents: Keith and Dena Melancon of Sorrento; paternal grandparents: Dale and Phyllis Johnson of Prairieville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Kelsi is preceded in death by her grandmother: Rita Mautner; 1 uncle: Timothy Griffin; and great-grandparents: Roy and Doris Melancon. Serving as pallbearers for Kelsi will be Brad Akin, Brian Melancon, Aaron Marcus, Eric Poche, Marvin Taylor and Robert Paille Jr. . Kelsi was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the Youth Group, a former Girl Scout and a 2014 graduate of Ascension Christian High School. Kelsi was a very fun loving, outgoing and sweet spirited person with an outstanding personality. The family would like to give a very special thanks to the Doctors and staff and nurses of the Baton Rouge General Medical Center Bluebonnet Burn Unit for their outstanding care during this difficult time.
