Gilbert P. Taillon, aged 72, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024. Born on November 22, 1952, in Gonzales, La, to Arthur Sr. and Bertha Taillon, Gilbert lived a life defined by dedication, hard work, and love for those around him. A proud graduate of East Ascension High School’s Class of 1970, Gilbert built a successful career with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, retiring in 2005. His work ethic, integrity, and unwavering commitment earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his career. Gilbert was deeply engaged in his community and passionate about his hobbies. As a member of the East Ascension Sportsman’s League, he shared his love for the outdoors and pursued his passion for hunting with the Bayou Sara Hunting Club in St. Francisville. He also served as a dedicated member of the Gonzales Jambalaya Festival Association, where he volunteered countless hours at festivals, fundraisers, and other events. Known for his wisdom, loyalty, and strong work ethic, Gilbert left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Taillon. Together, they shared an extraordinary 51-year marriage built on unwavering devotion and enduring love. Their bond was a testament to their deep commitment to each other and the life they created together. Gilbert is also survived by his brothers, Arthur Jr. (Connie), Alfred (Arlene), and Wally (Rita) Taillon, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Bertha Taillon. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Our Lady of the Lake MICU team for their compassionate care of Gilbert and for the many prayers and well wishes received during this time. Gilbert’s life was a testament to kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of living fully. His memory will remain a source of inspiration and love to all who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of Gilbert’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, La 70737. Visitation will be from 9 am until the funeral Service at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Cornerview Cemetery, 38161 Cornerview Rd, Gonzales, LA 70737.
