Gary was a resident of Morgan City, former resident of Gonzales, & native of West Monroe; passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was the Owner of Ascension Ready Mix, a Lifetime Member of Duck's Unlimited, and a commissioned Deputy with the Ascension Parish Sherriff's Office. He is survived by Stephanie Dowdy of Morgan City; daughter Shannon Dowdy of Baton Rouge; Son Gary E. Dowdy Jr. of Baton Rouge; sister Belinda Dowdy of West Monroe; nephew Cody Wingfield of Prairieville; 2 nieces Brittany Vidrine and Ande Leigh Wingfield of Prairieville. Preceded in death by parents Elaine Crowell Dowdy and Thomas Lee Dowdy; nephew Greg Milford. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA on Friday, May 10 from 8:30am until Funeral Service at 12:00pm celebrated by Rev. Ken Spivey; burial to follow at Oak Lane Memorial Park, Prairieville, LA. Pallbearers will be Lenny Johnson, Joseph Pizzuto, Pete Delaune, Doyle Phillipe, Benji Delaune, Cody Wingfield, Andy Wingfield, and David Vidrine.
