Carolynn Davis Babin

Born and raised in New Orleans, Carolynn married Gerald "Jerry" Babin in 1958. As an Air Force wife, she traveled the United States and raised two daughters, Lori and Sharon, often on her own while Jerry served in Vietnam and other overseas assignments. In 1970 they moved back to New Orleans where their son, Ken, was born. The Babin family were active members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Orleans East. Carolynn worked for 20 years as a payroll clerk for the New Orleans School Board. In 1994 Carolynn and Jerry moved to St. Amant where they joined St. James Lutheran Church and were active and devoted members. Carolynn then worked for several years as a library assistant for Ascension Parish Library. Reading was always one of her greatest pleasures and she loved meeting and helping people at her job.

She was known for her sweet disposition and down-to-earth nature. She loved her family and loved hosting for the holidays, or any occasion. Her pets were always a big part of her life and she loved them dearly.

Carolynn is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Davis and Elvira Tobler Davis, her husband of 57 years, Jerry Babin, and their son, Rev. Ken Babin. She is survived by her children Lori (Jeff) Walsh, Sharon (Greg) Cedotal, and Priscilla Babin. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Shannon (Michael) Thomas, Sean (Sarah) Walsh, Renee, Nico, Chloe and Joey Babin, sister Gaynell and sister-in-law Brenda, many nieces and nephews, and her border collie, Louie.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church, 1415 E. Hwy. 30, Gonzales, LA. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Luncheon will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer' s Association or your local animal shelter. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice Services for making it possible for us to care for her in her home.
