Beverly entered into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, June 14, 2013.
She was born November 17, 1926, in Denver, the only child of Elsie Mae Reed, and she lived her entire life in Colorado. In 1945, she eloped with John Richard Polhamus to be married in Kansas. Beverly was the wonderful and loving mother of five sons.
Proud of Colorado and interested in it's history and the history of the communities she and her family lived in, Beverly collected and annotated items on the history of the region. She also donated generously to and volunteered at both the Grand County Museum in Hot Sulpher Springs and the DAR Museum in Golden. She was especially pleased at the donation of a park to the children of Granby by the Polhamus family. True to her love of history, she kept a journal for her family.
Beverly retired from Jefferson County Schools after serving for many years as a teachers' aide at Maple Grove Elementary School. She loved her job, especially treasuring her time helping young students learn to read.
Her flower gardens were always lovely, and she looked for ways to help with the flowers everywhere she lived, even when she was in nursing homes or assisted living apartments.
Beverly was truly sensitive to people who needed help, and she loved being able to aid them. Those who knew her remember her as a kind person who was never too busy to assist someone in need.
Beverly is survived by four sons, Frederick Beryl (Cathy) Dunford of Newcastle, WY, John Richard (Sally) Polhamus of Arvada, CO, Larry Gene (Marcia) Polhamus of Silver Spring MD, and Chris Kingsbury Polhamus of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Kimberlee Polhamus of Broomfield, CO, Joni Cousland of Golden, CO, Eric Polhamus of Silver Spring, MD, Robin Polhamus of Silver Spring, MD, Shannon (Scott) Heffernan of Ft. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John R. Polhamus, her young son, Robert Lee Polhamus, and her mother, Elsie Mae (Reed) Acridge.
