Shan Jenkins, AKA: Great Dad, Best Husband Ever, Pops, Grandpa, Best Uncle in the world, Officer and hero, entered the presence of Our Lord on Saturday April 7th, 2018. Shan was born on November 17th 1952 and was raised in Tucson AZ as the 3rd child and oldest son of Narice and Joe Jenkins. After several years of giving gray hair to his parents and relentlessly teasing his 2 sisters, Joan and Christy, and his 3 brothers, Kit, Tim and Joel, he graduated from Catalina High School and moved to California where he met, and married Helen and had their son, Taylor, and their daughter, Amber. Shan was a good dad as the kids grew up and he worked hard to make their house “the place to be” for his kids and their friends. He eventually attended Rio Hondo Police academy to pursue what he really wanted to do. Once he graduated he worked in the police reserves until he took a full time position with the Irwindale Police Department. Shan later met and married his 2nd wife Lauren Andersen, his best friend. The two of them enjoyed many adventures traveling together. His kids doubled his joy as a father as Taylor married Jaime and Amber married Art. His heart became full when the kids gave him 4 grandkids, Faith, Noah, Xavier and Braxton. There aren’t enough words to describe what he meant to us and how much he will be missed. We will be saying our good byes to him on Friday 4/20/2018 at 1PM at the Oakdale Mortuary in Glendora. He and the family wish that in lieu of flowers a donation would be made to The City of Hope (https://bit.ly/2H5GLzh) who gave him excellent care, and as much comfort as was possible, during his last 3 years fighting against cancer.
