Helga Neufeld passed away on May 17, 2023, age 85. Born in Germany, Helga grew up during and in the wake of the Second World War and its devastation of Europe, an experience that informed her life-long values of thrift and security. She met her future husband, Gene Neufeld (1929 – 2003) while he was serving in the US Air Force, stationed in Germany. Helga and Gene married in 1957 and, after relocating to the US, raised four children. Her family and friends knew Helga to be a woman of refined taste who was passionate about staying in touch with her seven grandchildren, exchanging regular texts messages, as well as old-fashioned cards and letters. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Helga is survived by her loving companion, Doug Murphy, and five great grandchildren. She will be missed by them all.
