Born in NY, on March 18th 1943 to Robert John Gekle and Grace McManus Gekle. Robert was educated at Chaminade High School and then Georgetown University. A parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. John of the Cross R.C. Church in Vero Beach, Florida. He had been a Chief Lifeguard, a Biology teacher and Pharmacist. Robert loved being with his family, cracking jokes, swimming in the ocean, playing tennis and volunteering.
He is survived by his beloved wife Antoinette Tobia Gekle, loving sons Curtis, Michael and Robert and daughters-in law, Natalie and Benita. Dearest brother of Linda, grandfather of Callie, Reid, Dylan and Allegra and great-grandfather to Waylon.
A visitation for Robert will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385. A religious ceremony will occur Monday, October 7, 2024, Sacred Heart RC Church from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, Glendale, NY 11385. A committal service will occur Monday, October 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at All Faiths Cemetery, 67-29 Metropolitan Ave, Middle Village, NY 11379.
