Erwin F. Petschauer was born on October 4th, 1930 in Tschermoschnitz, Austria to John & Martha Petschauer. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 and proudly served in the 25th Infantry of the United State Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he put himself through flight school and became an airline pilot. After a successful career as an airline pilot during the 50’s and early 60’s he settled down, married, and dedicated his life, along with his wife Anna Marie, to raising their three boys. Erwin is perhaps best known for owning the Glendale Travel Agency. For more than three decades he served the travel needs of the greater Glendale community. He was an active member of the Glendale community, the Gottscheer Community, his Church (Sacred Heart Parish), the Glendale Kiwanis Club, the Enzian Ski Club, the Gottscheer Bowling Club, and the Gottscheer Relief Association. He was also a Director of the Bushwick Club of New York and a participant in several other community and ethnic organizations. Erwin was an avid hunter and loved spending time at his weekend home in Hawley, PA. But, skiing was his passion. He shared his love of skiing by teaching many family and friends over the years how to ski and the thrill of the sport. This was especially true for his sons who have all followed his passion for the sport. He was blessed to be able to enjoy his passion with his family and friends until his last days.
Erwin is survived by his sons, John, Erwin and Ken, his daughters-in-law Susan, Beth and Elysha, and his grandsons Erik and Andrew.
Services will be held in the future at a time to be determined.
