William Scott Collins, age 57, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Sun City, Arizona. He was born on April 21, 1966 to Bill and MaryAnn Collins in Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Jamie; his parents; siblings Ken (Paula) and Cindy Ratke (Thom); children, Alexis Morrison (Darren), Nathan (Felicia), Mickenzie Snow (Tyler); eight grandchildren (Victoria, Jaxson, Brody, Tucker, Eliana, Wyatt, Everlee, and a baby boy due in March); numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews along with many friends who all loved him very much. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Wilma Collins and Theron Humphrey and Margaret Ford, and his nephew, John William Collins.
Scott attended Thunderbird High School graduating class of 1984. He furthered his education first at Grand Canyon College, then at Ottawa University where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, he taught computer science within the Peoria School District for over twenty-three years at four different elementary schools, and most recently at Ironwood High School. At each school he worked at, Scott involved himself in student activities; coach for girls softball and as a sponsor for the Student Council and Future Business Leaders of America club.
Scott was a man of faith, with a devotion to serving God with his life and loving others as Jesus Christ taught us to love. A church member his entire life, he attended Eastside Baptist Church, Royal Palms Baptist Church, Christ the King Anglican Church, and is a current member of Desert Mission Anglican Church (DMAC). At DMAC Scott served on the Vestry, was Pastoral Liaison, V.P. on the Corporate Board, and as the audio technician; in addition, he was the cook for the men’s breakfast each month. Scott married Jamie (Howard) Collins on July 11, 2003. He and Jamie spent time watching professional sports together, cheering for the local baseball, hockey, and football teams. They also enjoyed Friday night food trucks, Saturday morning farmers markets, and going to the movies. He cherished staying in touch with his growing family on facetime calls with his kids and grandkids. Scott enjoyed playing both golf and disc golf, game nights with friends, a variety of music, lunch with his siblings, and playing Diablo.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Faith Bible Church, 17230 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85308. Officiating by Fr. Nathan Hale, rector of Desert Mission Anglican Church. Scott's favorite color was blue, please feel free to wear any shade of blue to the service.
