February 12, 1952 – May 15, 2020
Paul Phillip Price of Sahuarita, AZ passed away at his home on May 15, 2020. Although he was known by co-workers as Paul, he was Phil to his family and friends. He was born in Indiana, and made the trek out west to Phoenix with his family in 1961. Phil fell in love with the considerably different landscape of Arizona and developed a lifelong love of land, landscapes and geology. This led him to obtain a degree in geology from NAU. He was then able to live and work in some of the most amazing and geologically interesting places in Wyoming, Colorado and Hawaii before settling for a long while in Cobb Mountain in Northern California. Phil eventually found his way back to Arizona and made his home in Sahuarita while working for Tucson Water. While Phil’s love of solitude and desire to live in Arizona meant that he lived far away from his family, his passing leaves a huge hole in our family. His animated and spirited views of the world along with his exceptionally sly sense of humor will be greatly missed. He will always be loved and his spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of his sister, nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Phil is predeceased by his parents Paul James and Sarah Viola (Hand) Price and his sister Viola Paulette (Price) Daugherty. He is survived by his sister Penny (Price) Heatley and her husband David Heatley. He leaves five nephews: Michael Daugherty, Thomas Daugherty, Alexander Heatley, Jason Heatley and Nicholas Heatley. He leaves behind two nieces: Beth (Daugherty) Fiori and Kelly (Daugherty) Schuknecht. He also leaves behind 5 great-nieces and great-nephews with one great-great niece on the way. Phil will be laid to rest next to his parents and older sister at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ. A memorial service will be held later due to the coronavirus pandemic.
