It’s been 1 year since a truly great man, father, son, brother and Papa passed away. I miss him everyday and after reviewing these memories he did touch many peoples lives. 
I love you dad and miss you.

Part 3
So many of your dreams DID come true, however. You married a wonderful woman, had three fantastic sons, plenty of grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. You made a career of the Air Force where you made many life-long friends. You and Betty were able to enjoy your retirement. You settled where it was warm and dry most of the year. It sweltered during the other part of the year, but you didn’t seem to notice. In the summer you traveled in your RV for even more adventures up in the mountains. You followed the family tradition begun by our grandfather and father—you took up woodworking. You made furniture, but you also made people happy. You carved each of us a cross that was meaningful to us. You had a special place in your heart for our Addie. You carved a special animal train for her, and then got down on the carpet and played with her. Her First Communion cross was unbelievable. It is something she will treasure always—a gift from her Uncle Pat. As I will treasure you. Goodbye, sweet brother. May you find the peace you so rightly deserve.
      And then there were eight.

PART 2

One of my chores as a teenager was ironing your shirts. I ironed all the boys’ shirts, but you were the particular ‘client.’ When I was ironing your shirts, you stood right over me, making sure there wasn’t a wrinkle to be found. If the wrinkle was in the back, who cared? YOU!!! You’re lucky I didn’t hand you the iron, ever so gently of course.
      The boys’ chores included washing and waxing the downstairs’ floors. Mom gave up on carpeting when she had to replace the carpeting after only a couple of years. But boy, you guys could make those floors shine.
      Even better than the bulletins, was when you brought Betty home. We loved her immediately. We thought maybe the commotion, if not the cold and snow would deter her, but tough gal that she is, she thrived on it all. What a trooper. We were thrilled when she and the boys came to stay with us once when you were out on a TDY assignment.
      We could let her in on all your adventures as a young child and teenager. You were a good dancer even as a youngster. When American Bandstand was on TV, you had something else to dream about—someday attending the actual weekday show. You could show the world some good dance moves. To that end, you, our brother Jim, and another friend, Jimmy Mason, ‘borrowed’ a car and set out for Philadelphia. On that snowy day, you didn’t make it too far. You three unlicensed, underage boys managed to slip on ice and get in an accident. Marymount Hospital was your final stop that day. You had to dance in your dreams.

PART 1


How I wish I could be there with the rest of the family to bid you farewell as you are welcomed into paradise. Unfortunately, Covid struck and I have to stay home. However, I thought I could at least write down a few thoughts going through my head at this time. You were my big brother, one of several, actually. You were two years ahead of me in school. The Friday after you graduated from St. Ed’s you left for the Air Force. You were all of 18 years old. How did you get away with that? Never again would we live together. I’m sure mom was not pleased with the timing of your departure. Although mom had six sons, they were not interchangeable. She loved and missed YOU. Once you proudly joined the Air Force, you just came home on leave—cameo appearances I called them.
      One funny thing I remember about your visits home were the Sunday church bulletins you saved up. You said, and who were we to doubt you, that you went to Mass every Sunday and brought us the proof in the church bulletins. Mom accepted these willingly. The church always meant a great deal to you. You were an altar server along with your brothers. You never even complained about having to serve the 6:00 Mass. Up until you were hospitalized, you said numerous rosaries a day. Saying rosaries got us through many trials as we were growing up.
      You were quite the ladies’ man in grade school and beyond, until you met Betty. Mom used to tease you and say you were going to be the first married priest. Oh, how you loved clothes. You saved green stamps until you could trade them for a pair of name brand jeans at May Co. ($3.00)


Pat was a great friend to my dad, Glenn.

Pat and Betty used to go camping with my parents and they had many fun adventures. 

My deepest condolences to Betty and her family at this difficult time.

Pat has been a part of our family since we moved to Buckeye almost 17 years ago. He and my dad have been inseparable. His laugh, kindness and willingness to help will be missed dearly. We love you Pat. Our most since condolences go out to the Ross family. Our thoughts and love are with you all. A one of a kind man and extraordinary man will be missed dearly.

I worked with Pat Ross for 8 years, but I value, even more, the friendship we maintained until he passed away. I never see a pecan without thinking of Pat and recalling fond memories of picking pecans with my dear friends. Pat was unselfish with his knowledge and his time. You will be missed, my friend!

i worked with Pat in early 90's at Keystone. He then left and went back to Goodyear Aerospace. He returned when it was Stolper and ran the Roll Skin line. When Triumph took over Pat ran the transition cell for Siemens . If it wasn't for Pat it would have never gotten off the ground. It was a pleasure and honor to spend part of my career working with Pat, My condolences to the family. 

Dear Betty and Family 
I always thought of the two of you as Pat & Betty Jrs. after my own parents, your Uncle Pat and Aunt Betty. The few times I got to see you you were bigger than life coming into town bringing such joy and stories all with a little Southern accent .  I know mom and dad had a wonderful time visiting you out west and how Betty sent back a handmade bag holder for each and every one of us.  
Mom and Dad loved you both very much!
My heart cries for The Ross and Poole families but my faith knows we will be together again .

An amazing father, grandfather, husband, dad, and a great 2nd dad to me for over 37 years. A man who would do anything for you. Talented, handsome, kind, generous and in love with his family. He served God, his country, his wife, his children and his many friends and extended family. You will be missed beyond words, Pops.
I love you So much. 2 Timothy 4:17 will forever remind me of you:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful."
