Mel Charles Haugan

Mel C. Haugan, 77, passed peacefully in his sleep on September 28, 2024, at his home in Peoria, AZ. Born on October 13, 1946 in Minot, North Dakota, Mel dedicated much of his career to the banking industry, working for 35 years at institutions including Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank.

Mel graduated from Arizona State University, where he forged a path that would lead him to a successful career in banking. He received degrees through the American Bankers Association, attending programs at the University of Washington and the University of Oklahoma. His professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, which earned him the respect of his colleagues and clients alike. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Central Phoenix, serving as president from 1994 to 1995 and was a Paul Harris fellow. He received a service award from Kiwanis International in 1988.

Mel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; children, Mark and Karen; his beloved grandchildren (known to them as Papa), Justin, Mary, Rachel, and Joshua; and brothers, Dennis and Lee. His presence will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

A memorial service for Mel will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
