Mary A. Kirkpatrick-Fontana was called home by her Lord, Savior and her lifetime friend on December 7, 2024. Born on August 17th, 1931, in Keokuk, Iowa, Mary was raised in a little farming community in West Point, Illinois. She came to Arizona with her parents, Harold and Lucille Mensendick, two brothers craig Mensendick, and Don Mensendick, and sister Kaye Barratt where they settled in Glendale.
Mary attended high school at Glendale High and later went to the Southwester Preparatory School for medicine. She worked years in this field, secretary for Phillip H. Lahr and the remaining years with Dr. DeFrancisco and Dr. Santoro.
Mary was married to George Kirkpatrick, and they had three children. Michael Kirkpatrick, Shirley Chapman, and Asia Rocco. Shortly after their 47th anniversary, George went with the Lord.
After 6 years she met Jim Fontana, and her family grew to include her stepsons James Fontana, and John Fontana. They had 9 years of happiness before Jim also went Home.
Mary was a member of Hillside Baptist church where she was active in the Hill-Toppers Choir and worked with the youth ministries.
She was dedicated and loving Matriarch whose only wish was for her family to walk with God.
Funeral services will be held at hillside Baptist Church on Monday, December 23rd at 9:00 AM, a reception to follow, with a Graveside service at West Resthaven Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
