Maria Irene Rodriguez

Maria Irene Rodriguez passed away on May 7, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Gral. Matamoros, El Oro, Durango on October 20, 1945 to the late Jesus and Victoria Carrasco.

Maria married John Rodriguez on June 9, 1969; they would have celebrated 54 years of marriage in June.

She worked for Grubers & Spring City prior to joining Revlon. Maria worked for Revlon for over 17 years until retirement.

She loved planting, growing and maintaining the roses that fill her yard. Maria was proud of her home and the roses and enjoyed showing it off. She took great delight in baking cookies and making tamales at Christmas time. Maria adored being the Queen Bee and having her sisters over for coffee and eating the cookies she made. She treasured dancing with her husband to Chubby Checkers “The Twist” and showing her children how to dance to Spanish songs.

Maria is survived by her loving husband John, three children Patricia Rodriguez, John (Sarah) Rodriguez, Jr. & Gabriel Rodriguez, six siblings Mallelo Carrasco, Angie Hinojo, Irma Montez, JoAnn Barrantes, Shelia Tellez & Carol Madrid, ten grandchildren Sophia Rodriguez, Seaira Cantu, Frankie Lopez, Victoria Rodriguez, Sonya Rodriguez, Jade Rodriguez, Ryleigh Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, III, Emilio Rodriguez & Andrew Verdugo, great granddaughter Elodie Pimentel and great grandson Josiah Rodriguez Figueroa who is due in July. She is also survived by cousins Francisca Bueno & Rabuel Aviles, many nieces, nephews and additional cousins.

In addition to her parents, three siblings preceded Maria in death Joe Carrasco, Antonio Carrasco & Maria Cuca Aguilera.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4-8PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale with a rosary beginning at 6pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5614 W. Orangewood Avenue, Glendale with burial to follow in Resthaven Park Cemetery.
