Lupe S. Rodriguez

Lupe S. Rodriguez, matriarch of the Joe L Rodriguez Family, was promoted to glory on Friday, February 18, 2022 surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a loving family who are grieving the loss of a special woman. Although blessed with her 91 years here on earth, she has begun her eternal life in heaven.

Lupe was born in Glendale, Arizona on September 5, 1930. She was married to Joe in 1950 and was a devoted and doting wife of 63 years. Lupe was at her husband’s side when they began their vision to start their own farm labor company in 1950, The Growers Company.

She took her cooking, her expression of love, to the next level when they opened Mi Patio Mexican Food restaurant in Phoenix in 1983 which won “Best New Restaurant of the Year”.

Lively conversations exchanged, much advice given, many card games played, and delectable meals were shared with her at her kitchen table. Faithful, kind, nurturing, and generous are words often spoken of Lupe. In her daily life, she had a way of connecting and inspiring those she encountered, resulting in many people outside the family affectionately calling her “Mom”, “Nana”, or “Momma”. Family were especially her blessings: 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Thanks Be to God for her presence in our lives. Mom/Nana we will miss you with all our hearts; missed but never forgotten. WE LOVE YOU MORE!

Rosary and funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:20 AM and 11:00 AM, respectively

at St. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85017
