Keith was born on May 24th, 1935, in Milton, Iowa to Verna and Willam Zollars. In 1944, his family moved to Phoenix, Az. In the mid-1950s, Keith was the manager of a movie theater in downtown Phoenix. While working there, he met his future wife, Helen who was a ticket seller at the theater. In 1956, Keith enlisted in the United States Air Force as a data processing operator. He spent the first several years of his enlistment in Japan. Keith enjoyed living in Japan, but he missed Helen. He was able to be transferred to Willams Air Force Base in Chandler, Az. On June 13th, 1959, he married Helen. He continued his enlistment in the Air Force until 1964. At that point, he transitioned to the Arizona National Guard and was a full-time civil service employee there in data processing. Keith obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant before retiring in 1991 with almost 36 years of dedicated service to his country.
After retiring, Keith enjoyed life with Helen. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his two grandchildren Kirsten and Mark. After losing Helen in 2003 and the grandchildren no longer needing to be baby-sat after school, he enjoyed weekly poker games at the club house where he was living. Keith would also never say no to a good piece of pie. During monthly potlucks at the clubhouse, Keith was the person to supply several different pies each time.
Keith was proceeded in death by his parents, Verna and William Zollars and his wife of 44 years, Helen.
Keith is survived by his sons Edward and Jack (Beth) and his two grandchildren Kirsten and Mark.
Keith’s memorial service will be held on July 5th, 2024, at the Chapel of the Chimes at 7924 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale, Az. 85301. The viewing will take place at 10:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM.
