After high school, Joe, worked odd jobs for a while. It was while working here Joe met the Love of his life, Cynthia.
Before he was drafted, Joe, joined the Army. When he was home on leave he and Cynthia were married on December 24, 1966.
When Joe was honorable discharged from the Army, he took a job with U.S. West as a Telephone Technician working on residential service and repair. As time passed, Joe, was promoted to working business services and was on the first team in Arizona to install fiber optic cable. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 100 for many years. He attended Church with his family. He often took his family camping where they would set up camp and go hunting and fishing. He loved football and the Arizona Cardinals was his favorite team.
Joe’s heart was his family.
He leaves behind his wife, Cynthia Mendez; children - Joe Jr., Debbie, and Jennifer Mendez; grandchildren - Robert, Bianca, Celeste, Ella, Isabel, Ramon, Joseph Marianna, Mariya, Jocelyn, Jennifer, Jesse, Rose Juarez, Carmen Rocha, and Esperanza Ramirez; great grandson Alexander; and brother Frank Mendez.
