Jean Elizabeth Paugh was born on January 14, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio. Jean attended Austintown Fitch High School where she was a majorette. She married her high school sweetheart, Dallas Hann, on December 20, 1946. Jean and Dallas moved to Troy, New York, where Dallas attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The couple welcomed their first two children, Kenneth and Sandy, while in New York. After graduation the family of four moved to Mogadore, Ohio. In Mogadore, their family expanded to include daughter, Ruth and son, John. In 1962 a job transfer moved the family west to Arizona. Jean and Dallas finally settled into a house on Highland Avenue in Phoenix where they expanded their family to include son, Charles. Jean was a wife and homemaker and her love of people led her to a second career as an LPN in later years. She worked in home health and at Boswell Hospital. Jean’s hobbies included sewing, gardening, and helping with the Pioneer Girls. Jean was devoted to her family and Jesus and rarely missed Sunday services, even in her later years. She read the Bible every morning.
Jean is survived by her 5 children, Kenneth Hann (Brenda) of Parker, Texas; Sandra Van Gorp (Dennis) of Superior, Arizona; Ruth Polyard (Ron) of Glendale, Arizona; John Hann (Jean) of Eagle Mountain, Utah; and Charles Hann (Gabriella) of Phoenix, Arizona. On more than one occasion, when seeing any of her 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, Jean would grin and nudge Dallas and say, “We started this.” Jean was a very warm, gentle soul loved by all who met her. She will be greatly missed.
