Gregory Dean Price

Gregory (Greg) Dean Price 70, passed away on March 7, 2022, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by close family and friends. He was born January 25th, 1952, in Selma, Alabama to his parents, Muriel and Dean Price.

He is survived by two children: Chris Price (& Sandy Lutz), and Jennifer May; six grandchildren: Clayton May, Renee May, Diana May, Loraina Price, Ryder Price, and Braden Price; and his brother: Lawrence (& Marilyn) Price. Greg is predeceased by his loving wife, Linda Price, and both of his parents.

As a child of a military family, Greg traveled worldwide, experiencing different cultures. He learned Judo in Japan; and was briefly in a rock band and played basketball in Ethiopia. In 1970 he graduated from McCluer High School in Florissant, MO.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Greg volunteered for military service, enlisting in the United States Air Force. Upon his return from Vietnam, he fell deeply in love with Linda Foster, a beautiful young woman from Little Rock, AR. They were married in the summer of 1974 and soon after had their first child Christopher. Greg then moved his young family overseas to Kyoto, Japan where their daughter Jennifer was born. In the 1980’s he toured stateside at Williams and Luke AFBs in Arizona and at England AFB in Louisiana during Desert Storm, all the while advancing his education at night school and raising two kids. After 21 years of dedicated military service, in 1992 Greg retired from the Air Force, which included: two foreign wars where he earned a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars; reached the rank of Master Sergeant; and achieved his master’s degree in Education.

Greg and family moved back to Arizona and began a life of Civil service. He worked for the State of Arizona as a social worker, and then taught many years in mathematics and statistics at high school and colleges. Upon retiring from his teaching career in 2013, Greg kept busy. He found joy in dealing craps and blackjack for a social events company; frequently volunteered for his favorite charities; and spent quality time with his grandchildren. He always loved to perform--whether it be in a military ceremony, acting and singing up on a stage, or in commanding a classroom or gaming table. During holidays, his biggest thrill was dressing up as Santa and visiting hospitalized children.

Greg traveled the world with boundless energy, learning everything about everything, and leading a life dedicated to serving others: a life of honor, courage, responsibility, and leadership. His legacy will live on within the memory of all the people he mentored, cared for, and loved.
