The oldest of 3 children. Erika and her family relocated to Phoenix when she was just 8 years old so her family could start a new life. She and her brother and sister attended school at Alhambra elementary. Erika went on to graduate from Glendale High School and start her general education classes at Glendale Community College “GCC”, as she had hoped to be a social worker specializing in child protection and foster parenting.
Erika was a very fun loving, but matter of fact person. She had expectations for her life and a plan that she wanted to follow, and this included who she dated. One night when she was out with her friends, at a bar, a young man walked up to her and handed her his cell phone. When she looked at him, he said, “put your number in there”. Erika fell immediately in love with the love of her life, Jose Alvallar. Jose wanted to marry her so he planned a trip to Las Vegas. The night before they were to leave on the trip he asked to her marry him. She said “yes”, so he said “that’s good” because I planned it for tomorrow. The eloped and were married the following day, June 13, 2015 in Las Vegas. Erika and Jose spent all of their time together. They loved to just hang out and when they could they watched the Dodger’s and got to go to a game once in California.
Erika was a beautiful girl who wanted to be herself. She loved to wear her white converse tennis shoes and decorated t-shirts, but you wouldn’t catch her without her face being perfect and her nails done. She was a very creative person. She tried everything, and was usually good at it. She loved to cook all kinds of food “international”, but her favorite was Mexican food. She was also a baker with her cakes, cup cakes, cookies and muffins that she also learned to decorate. She was into arts & crafts and made her own t-shirts and iron on’s. She was also learning to etch glass. She loved her pop-music and loved to dance.
Erika leaves behind her husband and love of her life, Jose; parents Elsa and Enrique; brother Luis and sister Sophia; and nephew Noah.
She is preceded by her grandpa Genaro.
