Daniel was preceded in death by his loving parents Charles and Meta Gunderson. He is survived by his loving wife Maureen. They cherished their 50 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Varner and her husband James, and their 2 daughters Alloria and Natassia; and his brother Russell Gunderson and his wife Dorothy, and their 2 daughters Tanya and Chris. On his wife's side he is survived by sisters-in-law Nancy Otis and her husband Roger, Bobbi Carrillo and her husband Fr. Tony, and brother-in-law Jim Lewis and his wife Nancy. He had many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Growing up he enjoyed fishing, building model airplanes with his brother Russ, and target shooting. He went on to become a talented gunsmith and did custom gunsmithing. He later went into purchasing for a local plumbing wholesale co. Daniel retired from a national plumbing wholesaler doing pricing control in 2011. He was thrilled to be able to celebrate his Golden Wedding Anniversary in September 27 of 2019 and his 80th birthday on November 1, 2019.
Daniel has always been a generous and compassionate man. He loved reading, especially the Bible and many biblical authors. He had a wonderful relationship with God. Daniel walked the "walk" and talked the "talk." He was a very prayerful man. He was happiness and joy to his wife Maureen and his family members. Daniel was well respected by friends and family and he will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing being held at 1 PM followed by funeral service at 2 PM on Monday, November 25, 2019 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery and immediately following the committal a reception will be held at the funeral home.
