She was born July 6, 1934 in Biddeford, Maine to the late Eugene and Marie Anna (Dubois) Dorais.
Claire grew up in Biddeford and attended St. Andre's Schools. She was employed at
Reilly’s Bakery in those years. She met her late husband Roger J. Fortier at a five and
dime store in Biddeford, Maine. They were married in 1955. After her husband
completed serving in the United State Army for 3 years, they settled in Daytona Beach,
Florida. Claire was employed by Plastix, Letters & Signs in Daytona Beach and later
had the opportunity to establish Daytona Plastix in Phoenix, Arizona.
Claire loved to knit, crochet, cross stitch and to play cards. She enjoyed watching
football games and the Arizona Diamondback baseball games. Christmas was always a
special time to spoil her daughter and granddaughters and also to invite family and
friends for French-Canadian pork pie.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine, who died at birth.
and predeceased by her sisters, Rita Vaillancourt of Biddeford, Jeannette
Coulombe of Sanford, and Jeanne D’Arc Simard of Virginia.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Sauer,
granddaughters, Ariana Sauer, Angelina Sauer, Devan Sauer,
great-grandchildren, Vincent Nava, Ezra Yanez, all of Phoenix, Arizona.
She is also survived by her brother in law Raoul (Ralph) Fortier and his
wife Carol of Goodyear, Arizona and their daughter Cheryl Fortier of
Peoria, Arizona and other nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale,
AZ. She will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetary. Those planning an expression of sympathy are
asked to consider a contribution to the Arizona Humane Society in Claire’s name.
