Norma J. Baker, 88, of Mapleton, Illinois, formerly of Glasford, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 16, 1926 in Kingston Mines, Illinois to William and Ruth (Bradley) Scott. She married Roger O. Baker on April 30, 1945 in Glasford, Illinois. He survives.
She is also survived by three children, Rev. Scott (Jann) Baker of Belleville, Illinois, Peggie Starkovich of Morton, Illinois and Candace Baker of San Marcos, Texas. She has seven grandchildren, David (Amy) Baker, Dana (Brett) Line, DeAnna (Brandon)Ewing and Devin (Brian) Webb all of Belleville, Illinois, Daryl (Heather) Baker of Mapleton,Illinois, Aaron (Lee) Starkovich of Lodi, California and Gina (Dave) Bybee of Morton, Illinois. She has 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson surviving. There is one sister, Wilma Mitchell of Glasford, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Norma loved being around the water, either fishing or boating. She loved sewing many projects, and enjoying her grandchildren and family visits. She worked over 28 years for the State of Illinois, last working at the Zeller Mental Health Center. Norma was a member of the Glasford Baptist Church in Glasford.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Glasford Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Cook will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Kingston Mines Cemetery in Kingston Mines, Illinois. Arrangements are by the Davison Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Glasford, Illinois. Memorials may be made to her church.
