Vickie was born to Frances Arlene (Sims) and James Thomas Harris in Jackson County, Missouri, on June 23, 1959, the oldest of their four children. Vickie attended Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and live in Kansas City for most of her life.
Vickie loved her church family at the Maple Park Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member. Vickie spent years as a dedicated employee in the hospitality industry and was recognized as a friendly face to many co-workers and customers.
Vickie’s greatest joy in her life was her family and friends. Vickie was blessed with four children Sean (1977), Amanda (1981), Cassie (1982), and Stephanie (1984).
Vickie is survived by her husband, Richard (Rick) Sallaz, separated (2003). Vickie leaves behind a loving family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren including her son Sean McGlaughlin (Tammy) of Phoenix, Arizona, and their sons Caelen and Quinn; her daughter Amanda Mayhugh of Clay County, Missouri, and her children Jordan, Jaylyn, Myanna, and Landyn; her daughter Cassie Sallaz (Benjamin Hamilton) of Brookfield, Missouri, and their children Anessa, Devon, Michael, Lilianna, and Paislynn; her daughter Stephanie (Sallaz) Roach (Jimmie) of Gladstone, Missouri, and their children Skylar, James, Jimmie Wayne, Ellalynn, Lea, Amanda, Anthony, Austin, Kailey, and Morgan; her great grandchildren, Kyrie and Phoenix; and her brothers, James (Jim)Thomas Harris, Jr., David Harris (Tammy), and Dennis Harris (Karen), and their families. Vickie is also survived by Dan Kernes who shared a loving relationship with Vickie for the last 19 years.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Arlene and James Thomas Harris, and her grandson, Lucas Reed Helm, Jr.
A visitation for Vickie will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Missouri, followed by a celebration of life at 6:30 p.m.
