Thomas Michael Simmons

Thomas was born on February 23, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dayton Joseph Simmons and Marguerite Marie Heinzle Simmons Eustice. He graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology in 1977 and from Oklahoma State University with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering in 1985. Thomas married Anita Geil, in 1986. After moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma Thomas began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Hydrologist. After a promotion to Project Manager with the HTRW group within the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, the couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri and had two children, Joseph Simmons and Angela Simmons. His children remember him as a supportive and kind father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and aspirations. Thomas was an accomplished engineer who enjoyed playing the piano, golfing, fishing, and camping with his family in his free time. He was a dedicated individual who loved working with youth as an adult leader and mentor in the Boy Scouts of America program. He was active in pack 447 as a Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Adult Leader, and Merit Badge Counselor.

He is preceded in death by His Father, Mother, and Step Father, Dayton Joseph Simmons, Marguerite Marie (Heinzle) Eustice, and Robert Edward Eustice, as well as his siblings, Joseph Patrick Simmons, Paul Simmons, and Susan Theresa Simmons.

Thomas is survived by his wife Anita Simmons; his children Joseph Simmons and Angela Simmons; and his Siblings Dayton Simmons, Jeffery Simmons, Mary Margarite Hapgood, Joanna Treas, Robert Simmons, Craig Eustice, Brad Eustice, and Judd Eustice.

A memorial service is scheduled for February 23, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic church, in Kansas City, Missouri with a reception following and final inurnment of ashes at Newcomers White Chapel Mausoleum. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Thomas's life.
