Terrance Anthony Max Wright, Sr. was born on July 30, 1949 in Horton, Kansas, from the union of Cecil Max Wright, Sr. and Virginia Mae Goodlow. Terrance, or Terry, as he was known by family and friends, lived part of his adolescent life on his family’s dairy farm in White Cloud, Kansas, where he also attended elementary school.
Terry accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age under the pastoralship of Elder Roy Stillman, at Foster Memorial Church of God in Christ. His family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. In 1963, his family joined Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the pastoralship of Bishop Daniel M. Jordan.
After marrying his wife, Marianne E. Bailey, in 1973, they moved to Denver, Colorado, and joined True Faith Church of God in Christ under the pastoralship of Elder Jimmy Byars, where he was installed as deacon and served faithfully. From this union, one daughter and three sons were born.
After graduating from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Terry began his career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after thirty-four years. He received a Special Achievement Award in recognition of notable performance in 1994, and an appreciation award from the Postal Service Award for thirty years of service in 2001.
Terry loved people and had a selfless caring heart. He cared for others who had difficulty caring for themselves. He worked as a Home Health Aide for about 13 years and Hospice for three years.
Terry enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, writing poetry occasionally, talking and visiting with family and friends, and singing. He enjoyed singing songs for the Lord. He sang solos, in groups, and choirs.
Terry was a loving, strong, generous, courageous, loyal, and faithful man of God who will be sorely missed by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving son, Cecil James Anthony Wright; grandsons, Kaylen and Khristian Wright; his sisters, Carol Mae Wright and Denise F. Gray; his brother, Cecil Max Wright, Jr.; his parents, and grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty years, Marianne E. Wright; his daughter, Terrianne D. Wright, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Terrance A.M. Wright, Jr. of Independence, Missouri, and Anthony Max Wright (Enanu) of Aurora, Colorado; Twin granddaughters, Kendall and Karissa Wright of Independence, Missouri; four grandsons, Anthony J. Wright of Aurora, Colorado, Keyon, Kavon, and Kameron Wright of Independence, Missouri; three brothers, Elder Carlton F. Wright (Margaret), of Lees Summit, Missouri, Leonard T. Wright (Myra) of Aurora, Colorado, and Pastor Stuart L. Wright (Serita) of Grandview, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Driscilla Wright of Stockton, California, Sheila G. Bailey of Kansas City, Missouri, Michele R. Bailey of McDonough, Georgia, Cynthia Bailey of Topeka, Kansas and Janet Bailey of Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law, Michael P. Bailey of Kansas City, Kansas; two aunts, Beverly Conley of Oxford, Alabama and Edith Barnett of Dallas, Texas; as well as a host of other relatives including cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation for Terry will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, followed by a funeral from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Terry will be laid to rest in White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
