Rose Mary (Tamburello) Smith, 82, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2023.
Rose was born on February 23, 1940, in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Mary (Lombardo) Tamburello. She graduated from Northeast High School. Rose married Robert A. Smith in 1957; they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past October.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the co-owner of The Chapel Christian Bookstore for many years and a proud homemaker for her family. Rose enjoyed cooking her Italian recipes, especially her homemade pasta sauce and Italian cookies. Rose was an avid sewer and loved to make quilts, making one for each of her grandkids along with many other items. Crocheting, crafting, card-making, and ceramics were a few of her favorite things to do. Additionally, Rose enjoyed working on puzzles, doing the daily crosswords, and watching Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, and other game shows. Rose was a fan of the Kansas City Royals and loved to watch their games. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church since its beginning.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Carmela Fiorello; sisters Vita Triolo, Catherine Tamburello, Leona Tegtmeyer, Carmela Collins, Elizabeth DeCaro, Pauline Crouse, Angela Tamburello and brother Carl Tamburello.
Rose is survived by her husband Robert A. Smith; children Charlie Smith (Mariann McCormally), Robert A. Smith Jr. (Amy), Joann Gascich (Scott), Roseann Hoffman (David); grandchildren Keeley Morrow, Shelby Smith, Anthony, Nicholas, and Megan Gascich; Sydney, Madison, Trey, and Dayton Hoffman; great-grandchildren Hayden Morrow, Anthony Gascich Jr.; many nieces and nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Kansas City Hospice.
