Robert Michael Houston, age 64, died on Friday, June 17th. “Mike” was born on Feb. 3rd, 1958 in Covington, KY to Louise and George Houston. He graduated from Murray State University in 1980 with a BS degree in Horticulture. After college, Mike began working for ADT Security Systems, (later Tyco, Johnson Controls), in various positions. He spent 37 years serving these companies in Cincinnati, OH, Indianapolis, IN, and Kansas City, MO. Over the years, Mike developed many special relationships with his colleagues across the country, and was a highly respected employee. Once someone became Mike’s friend, they were a friend for life. This was especially true of his best pals, “Buddy” Versoza, and Jeff Husk. Mike played numerous sports, and was a HUGE Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds fan. It is said that he was a strong contender in any Sports Trivia discussion. Mike also enjoyed working with the Big Brother program. Mike loved to spend time with his relatives, and was a “Favorite Uncle” to Lindsay, and Patrick and their own children, whom he adored.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and George Houston. He is survived by one sister, Lee Ann (Tim) Sullivan, Charleston, SC, a niece, Lindsay (William) Powell, Hartsville, SC, a nephew, Patrick (Caitlin) Sullivan, Asheville, NC, and 3 great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, and the Center Point Medical Center, especially the Oncology nurses on the 6th floor.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Mike on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be held at Highland Cemetery Chapel, 2167 Dixie Hwy., Ft. Mitchell, KY. Interment of Ashes will immediately follow the service. Guests are then invited to join the family for food and fellowship at the "English Pub", 2853 Dixie Hwy., Crestview Hills, KY..
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations to The American Cancer Society in memory of Mike Houston.
