Nick Messina

Nick was born March 17, 1959 to the late Larry and Leonore Messina, the fourth of six children.

He graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1977, and graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Nick met Denise while attending MU. The two dated for four months before getting engaged, and married on March 20, 1982. Together they raised three children.

Nick loved sports and loved entertaining friends and clients at games and at his house. Many friends cheered on the Chiefs and Royals from his home. Especially memorable were World Series and Super bowl victories. He also loved to travel, whether on large family vacations or joining wonderful friends in Mexico or Jamaica.

Nick loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. After coaching his own kids, he was happy to sit on the sidelines and cheer on his grandkids.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents Larry and Leonore Messina. He is survived by his wife, Denise; his children, Nick (Mackenzie) Messina, Jaclyn (Landon) Meyer and Paige (Anthony) Zicarelli; grandchildren Greyson, Lucas, Christian, Bennett, Lena, Beau and Nicholas; and siblings MaryKay (Ed) Schumacher, Larry (Kathy) Messina, Julie (Chris) Schembri; Paul (Terri) Messina, and Steve (Regina) Messina.

The family would like to thank the loving staff of Galway Home and the caring staff of Ascend Hospice for making Nick's last days comfortable. The love and kindness so many of you gave the last year can never be thanked enough.

A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9 from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral mass will be at St. James Catholic Church at 11:00 on Thursday, October 10, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
