JoAnne was born on September 7, 1940 in Jackson County, MO to George and Irene LaChapelle. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1958. JoAnne began working right after graduating, at Guarantee Insurance Company in downtown Kansas City. In the 60’s, she started working for the Kansas City Stockyards.
On August 26, 1966, she married Ralph William Honeycutt. Together they did their best to raise 4 children. JoAnne continued to work in the stockyards for many years and obtained a real estate license in the late 80’s and started selling real estate as well. Her children remember her as a very strong, intelligent, and generous to a fault type of lady, an individual who loved being with family and friends, building family homes, being at the lake or just listening and dancing to good music. She also enjoyed her involvement with the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Irene LaChapelle of Kansas City; infant son of Kansas City; husband Ralph Honeycutt of Kansas City; and two sons: Ralph Honeycutt Jr. of Kansas City and Paul Honeycutt of Jefferson City.
JoAnne is survived by her sister Verna Rose Latham of Kansas City; her daughter Paula Kitterman of Caney, KS and her husband, Jeff; two granddaughters: Elizabeth Kitterman of Caney, KS and Isabella Kitterman of Erie, KS and her fiancé Dillon Evans. She is also survived by one son Rick Honeycutt of Wakulla, FL; one granddaughter Tonda Contreras of St. Louis, MO; three grandsons: Richard Honeycutt, William Honeycutt and Christopher Honeycutt, all of Florida; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral will be held at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church 7600 NW Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64153 on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Masks are required.
