Surrounded by her loving family, Sara Jeanne Lueders passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at NorthCare Hospice House. She was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and adopted by Theodore and Eunice (Nee: Gilchrist) Cordes of Waterloo, Iowa, when she was 11 months old. Jeanne attended West High School before studying music with an emphasis in piano at the University of Iowa.
On August 25, 1973, she was united in marriage to John T. Lueders at First Congregational in Waterloo, Iowa. Jeanne had a deep appreciation for music and taught piano for over forty years. She retired from Ridgeway Place in 2012 as an Activities Director which combined her love of teaching and helping others.
She was a Master Gardener, artist, exemplary cook, and practiced Tai-Chi for many years. She led with creativity in all she did. In 2017, Jeanne and John moved to Weatherby Lake, Missouri, to start a new adventure together and built their dream home. She loved being an active member of the Weatherby Lake community and served as the President of the Garden Club and Women of Weatherby Lake Club.
Most of all, Jeanne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished time spent with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-one years John; her children, Matt Lueders of Charlotte, North Carolina, Andy (Amy) Lueders of Kansas City, Missouri; her grandchildren, Alexis, James, Andrew and Anderson Lueders; her brother, Kim Cordes, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore, and Eunice Cordes; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Irene Lueders; and sister-in-law, Pam (Kim) Cordes.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Missouri, with a reception to follow. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeanne’s name to Children’s Miracle Network, P.O. Box 3245, Kansas City, KS 66103.
