She was born May 18, 1932, in Carroll County, Indiana, the daughter of Forrest and Lucille (Jacquay) Hoffman. Harriet was one of six siblings. Harriet attended Seneca High School and began working for Southwestern Bell in Seneca Missouri.
Harriet married Harley T. Russell “Tom” on March 31, in 1956, in Neosho, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Lucille Hoffman; her husband, Tom Russell in 2002 and her grandson Brandon in 2017. She is survived by three children, Steven Lee Russell (Jennifer), Connie Jo Kamps (Paul) and Robert Lynn Russell (Cherie). Her grandchildren Evan Russell (Kelly), Lauren Russell, Katy Russell, Kitrick Russell (Amanda) and Madison Yohn (Gabe), two great grandchildren Livi Brandon Russell, Isla Virgina Russell and many grand animals.
Tom and Harriet moved their family to Kansas City in 1960. Tom began a career with Railway Express and Harriet continued her career working with Southwestern Bell. Harriet went on to work at the phone company for nearly four decades.
Harriet’s passion in life was cooking, especially pies, and to provide for and raise her family and ensure her children were able to attend college. All three children carried their parents’ work ethic forward by having successful careers working for their respective companies - like their mom for many decades.
