Gail "GiGi" Nestell

Gail "Gigi" Nadine Nestell (Cook) passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 2, 2022. Gail was born on January 15, 1944, in Independence, Missouri to Georgia Lee and Vincent Cook. Gail attended Northeast High School and furthered her education by achieving a real estate license and graduating from cosmetology school. She courageously battled small cell lung cancer from December 2019 to November 2, 2022. After moving into the home on N. Cherry St. in KCMO, where she raised her three daughters: Teresa, Kelly and Deborah, she began her career at Ford Motor Company as an assembly line worker. She worked 26 long years before retirement.

Gail is preceded in death by her mother and father and older brother, Garvin Cook. She is survived by her sister, Sheila (Cook) Stith; daughters: Teresa (Nestell) Henry, Kelly (Nestell) Albrecht and Deborah (Nestell) Rodriguez; her four grandchildren: Neil Phipps, Lindsay (Phipps) Hales, Gabrielle Rodriguez and Carlos Jr. Rodriguez; her six nieces and nephews; and her three great grandchildren.

In her younger years, Gail spent her spare time on the dance floor square dancing. She loved to travel, and she was an avid reader, but her greatest pleasure in life was watching her kids and grandchildren grow up. Her courageous spirit and great sense of humor helped her navigate through her final battles in life. Although her life on Earth has come to an end, her heavenly journey with the Lord has just begun. Safely at home, in Heaven at last, Gigi will remain forever in our hearts and dearest memories.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Liberty Hospital as well as Good Shepherd Hospice for their efforts to keep Gigi comfortable in her final moments of life.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, at Staley Farms Golf Club - Fairway Room, 10310 N Olive Ave, Kansas City, MO 64155 from 6-10PM.
