Our beloved and cherished son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and dear friend, Christopher Gage Phillips, age 25, was unexpectedly called home to serve our Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
His sweet life was cut short due to Covid-19, which he contracted while working in Texas. Although he was far from his family he was comforted at the time by his dear friends whom he considered family.
Gage was born May 24, 1996 in the North Kansas City Hospital to Christopher Donald Phillips and Holly Dietz.
Gage grew up in the Kansas City / Gladstone area where he attended and later worked during the summers at Oakhill Day School. He graduated from North Kansas City High School with honors in DECA. He attended Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.
He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by his grandfather on March 30, 2004, and later ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood by his father. Gage participated in many activities as a youth including basketball, baseball, and scouting where he and his brother Austyn always had their own plans for the activities - much to the chagrin of his father who was blessed with being their coach and scoutmaster. His connection to Austyn continued through adulthood as they became “buds” in almost all that they did.
As an adult Gage enjoyed hunting, fishing, firearms, archery, camping, metallurgy, video games, anime, medieval weaponry, and pick-up trucks; all passions and hobbies which he shared with Austyn.
Gage shared in a number of special relationships throughout his life. He was a man with a pure heart who always saw the best in a person and strived to bring joy and a smile to everyone, no matter the cost. Two of his relationships stand out well beyond any others:
First: his relationship with his Grandfather Phillips, who from the moment he was
born had a special connection with Gage. They spent many work road trips
together, hours watching airplanes take off, worked on home projects and were
just friends. Gage knew he could count on his grandpa no matter what and he
would take on any project to be able to spend time with him.
Second: his relationship with his sister Miranda. Gage and Miranda were truly
and undeniably 2 halves of the same soul, inseparable from her birth. As
children, teens, and adults, they were at each other’s side figuratively and quite
literally, always knowing just a phone call would make either whole again.
Gage was preceded in death by Great-Grandparents, Lloyd and Jeanne Phillips; Wilmer and Kathleen Anderton; Grandfather, Steve Burcham; Great-Uncles, Allen Butcher, Ren Anderton, Douglas Phillips, and Charles Phillips; and cat, “lil gray”.
He is survived by his father, Christopher (Vicki) Phillips; mother, Holly (Kristine) Dietz; sisters, Miranda Phillips, Chloe Maddox, Tayler Accurso, Alana Marvel, and Amberlee Lee; brothers, Joseph Haas and Austyn Wilcoxson; as well as grandparents, Apryl Lafevers, Donald & Sharon Phillips, Steve & Carolyn Sauer; and innumerable aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug 26, 2021 at the Hillside Christian Church (900 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118). Visitation will be 11AM -1PM with funeral services following. Interment will be at White Chapel Cemetery (6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119) following the service.
