Beverly, 86, passed away on October 6, 2024. She was born on May 28, 1938, in Lowell, Iowa in Henry County. Beverly is survived by her two sons Dave and Mark (Liz) as well as former daughter-in-law Becky Gunn, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She married Robert T. Whitaker on June 27, 1964, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2018.
Beverly earned a Bachelor of Religious Education from Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Science (in Education) from Sioux Falls College, and a Master of Arts (Reading Education) from UMKC. She taught 4th & 6th grade, published articles on Christian education, and served as director of the Learning Center and Reading Department at Maple Woods Community College.
In 1976, she researched her family ancestry as her personal celebration of the bicentennial, resulting in a second career as a professional genealogist and later leading the Family History Story Hour at McCrite Senior Living.
Viewing/visitation will take place on Thursday, October 10, from 5-7 p.m. at White Chapel Cemetery (6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119) with graveside service there on Friday, October 11 at 10 a.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19th, at 2 p.m. at North Cross United Methodist Church (1321 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118).
