Born in Glace Bay on March 23, 1930 to the late Kenneth and Evelyn MacLeod. Sadie was raised both in Loch Lomond and Glace Bay. Sadie was lovingly involved in her family's lives as they were growing up at her home in Glace Bay and at the family home in Loch Lomond. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and there was always plenty for anyone who dropped by. Sadie was a dedicated member of Newsom United Church and served on many committees, as well as being a committee member of Loch Lomond Pioneer Cemetery. Her generous nature extended beyond her family and into the communities of Glace Bay and Lock Lomond.
Sadie is survived by her sister, Helen Stewart, daughters Evelyn (Glenn) Smith, Jean (Llewelyn) Robinson, Joan McNeil, Mora (Michael) Devereaux, Barbara (Kevin) Ruelland, Brenda (Jack) McMullin, Lisa Robinson, sons Alfred (Joan) Robinson and Kenneth (Cecilia) Robinson. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband James. Her sister Rita MacLeod, her son-in-law James McNeil, brothers-in-law Hugh Stewart, Alfred Robinson and Norman Oldford, sisters-in-law Catherine Oldford and Martha Robinson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kent Cadegan for his many years of supportive care. Thank you to Dr. Burns and the staff of palliative care, homecare and the VON for their kindness, sensitivity and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 17 at Patten Funeral Home with Jane Keller officiating. For those unable to attend, the service will be hosted on Patten's Facebook page.
